Programme Description
Philology is the humanistic study of language and literature, so philological education provides person with the conscious and knowledge of language and literature… etc., Which are reflected in cultures, national thought, identity, societies… Successful philological education means successful communication and acquaintance with other cultures. In correspondence with current demands it is essential to have specialists in Turkish Philology. 
Aim of the program is to generate quality academics to serve the needs of philological school, private and public organizations, to provide students with contemporary philological knowledge and prepare qualified specialists in philological sciences, to create new knowledge in related area and to strengthen educational capacity.
By the end of the Ph.D program, candidate will gain full range of knowledge required by the obligatory standards established for rewarding the doctorate academic degree in the field of philological sciences. As for the professional competence of Ph.D, besides the research in relevant sphere, in philological sciences will have an ability to express own views on the corresponding topic depending on the independently conducted research works. Also, students will have an ability to contribute in the formation process of the new knowledge and totally meet the contemporary demands of the doctor of science. Through the doctoral program Ph.D students will gain appropriate skills for both scientific and practical work.
Also, Ph.D Candidate will gain ability to conduct the scientific research and critically evaluate the fulfilled scientific work; will gain the ability for self and mutual assessment and obtain the knowledge of terminology in philology and literature; ability in formation of own views about historical, as well as modern philological, linguistic, literary and other related issues.

The Doctoral Program in Turkish Philology is designed through taking into consideration the courses taught at Turkish Philology Program at universities of Turkey.

Admission to the Programme 
A person is admitted to the programme if
  • Information about education and practical experience of the applicant (CV);
  • S/he master degree in related sphere;
  • S/he passes the university internal exam in Turkish language equivalent to C1 level 
  • Her/his PhD dissertation proposal will be assessed positively;
  • Her/his interview based on the proposal will be assessed positively;
    • Candidates are freed from Turkish language exam if
    • Candidates who have graduated from MA educational program (instruction language – Turkish) during last three years are free from passing Turkish language examination.
